Is there something about yourself you wish you could change? Maybe it's physical. Maybe it's your personality. You wish you were more talented, or a little more like someone else. That kind of self-criticism is easy to fall into and hard to climb out of, and left alone it wears down your confidence and your sense of worth.
Here's the truth that can change how you see yourself. David wrote it in Psalm 139:13, talking straight to God: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb" (Psalm 139:13, NLT). You were made on purpose. Not one part of you is a mistake—your personality, the way you're wired, all of it is designed on purpose.
And the God who made you is proud of what he made. When an artist creates something by hand, they see it differently than anyone else's work. That's how God sees you, including the parts you'd trade in a heartbeat. He looks at them with love.
So the next time you catch your reflection and the criticism starts up, picture how God sees you instead. He made you to be exactly who you are, and he's not disappointed with the result.
