John 14:1-21
Matthew 28:16-20
Where do I ultimately find the meaning I’ve been searching for?
As convenient as it would be, we can’t snap our fingers and teleport to a destination vacation. We have to travel to get there—and we usually need some directions to follow.
In the same way, we don’t follow Jesus and suddenly leave the world and its troubles behind. If God had wanted it that way, it would be that way. But he has a plan and purpose for this life.
It would be easier to skip right to the good part—eternity in the presence of God—and skip the tough lessons and losses in life. But when we spend our lives following the footsteps of Jesus, we grow in love, humility, and gratitude. We learn more about who God is and what he created us for.
Most of all, we get the chance to introduce others to Jesus. Our greatest purpose as followers of Jesus is to “Go and make disciples” (Matthew 23:20, NLT). We get the chance to show others the hope we’ve found, and why it’s worth it to follow Jesus themselves. That sounds like a life worth living.
What does God want you to do in this life? What purpose has he created and prepared you for? What are your talents and passions, and how can you use them to serve others? What’s the next way you can dive deeper and grow in your faith? There’s so much to discover in a lifetime of following Jesus, and it’s never too late to start.
Pray: God, thank you for giving me the chance to live my life for you. Help me notice the opportunities to step into my purpose and bring more people to you so we can follow you together. Amen.
