It’s natural for humans to gather. We get together at weddings, birthday parties, and sporting events. We connect in online forums, social media groups, and watch parties. Joining up with people, one way or another, is in our DNA.
If we look at Acts, we see that gathering together is part of the first church’s DNA, too! As we see in Acts 2:42-47, the early Church centered around shared experiences. The people ate, prayed, worshipped, and lived life together. As they did this, the people who made up the first church grew alongside one another. They helped each other grow in their faith and encouraged each other with God’s truth.
Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us not to neglect opportunities to gather with others. When we gather, we experience deeper encouragement and motivation in our faith. It also gives us the opportunity to provide the same support to others! While the way we gather might look different from the early Church, its purpose in our faith journey is just as essential now as it was thousands of years ago.
