One Another
“One another” shows up in verses 5, 7, and 14 in this chapter. In Paul’s day, he was doing something new: he was bringing Jews and Gentiles to worship together in one church. This was challenging because these people came from very different traditions, races, and understandings of right and wrong. He reminds them they are to be in harmony, to be welcoming, and to teach each other.
We have differences today, too. We are told we should be in harmony despite those differences. We can be welcoming to each other and learn the same lessons from the Bible. We all struggle to obey God completely and can support each other in our struggles.
