Prayer
The chapter begins with the prayer of a man named Daniel. When he was a young man, he had been carried away as a captive to Babylon. Despite all he experienced as a captive, he remained faithful to God. However, he wanted to see his nation, Israel, restored to their own land and to be serving God. As he is asking, he also realizes Israel was being treated just as they deserved. He is asking for God’s mercy despite their disobedience.
This is a great example for us to follow. When asking God for the things we want and need, we should understand God owes us nothing. He provides us with what we need because He loves us, not because we are entitled to it.
