Day 5 Verse: Matthew 26:36-46
Jesus is the Son of God and perfect in every way. Before Jesus hung on the cross, even he had to give up control to God. His words to God were, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me.” Wow. Even the Son of God felt deep anguish and struggled to go through with his purpose. Jesus is the best example for us on how to have a relationship with God. He modeled living the best life, and it’s important for us to see what he said next - “Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
When we give up control, like Jesus did, we have to remember that it means giving up our plans. It means surrendering to what God says is best for us, not what we believe is best for ourselves. That hurts. That means we might really want one thing, but need to walk away from it for what God says is better. It means that we might not always understand why things are happening the way they are, but to trust God will see us through. Today, choose to live as Jesus lived. Choose to talk with God daily and not only invite him into your life, but give up full control to him. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
