David becomes the leader of a group of outcasts. He also discovers that he is responsible for the deaths of a number of innocent men. In the meantime, Saul is no longer listening to reason. His insecurity has led to murder and distrusting everyone around him.
Living life our own way looks inviting, but leads to deeper levels of sin, guilt, and unhappiness. Saul has gone so far down the path of sin even his own guards don’t want to obey him. Proverbs 14:12 warns us, “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.”
