Paul is sent to Rome by ship. Luke uses the pronoun ‘we,’ and the story is more detailed so it’s clear Luke was along on the voyage. Even in the midst of a life-threatening situation, Paul never forgot his dependence on God and to care for the others on the ship, including those who were his captors.
We often use storms as a way of talking about difficulties in life. Storms make a good illustration because we don’t control them, and they can put us in unexpected danger. In the midst of them, we can cling to our own abilities to get through them or we can rely more heavily on God. When we rely on God, it is another way we can lead others to Jesus.
