Most of the chapter talks about different ways Jesus helped those with needs, but at the beginning of the chapter an interesting aspect of Jesus’ ministry is mentioned. Part of Jesus’ ministry was funded by women. Perhaps due to family obligations or cultural norms, physically following Jesus was not an option, but they played an important enough role for Luke to mention them.
Living in an information age, we are aware of many more needs than we can directly meet. Sometimes we can see a need and go do something to fill it. Sometimes we can see a need and give financial support to help someone better equipped to meet it. Sometimes prayer is the only option. In any event, we play an important role in helping others.
