In chapters 6 to 12, we are told about more rebellion, oppression and deliverance. Here we have Samson. There is a common theme in the Bible of God allowing a couple who can’t have children to conceive and for that child to fulfill a higher purpose. We saw it earlier in Genesis when Abraham and Sarah had Isaac. Back in Numbers 6, we read about Nazirites, and now we meet one in Samson.
It must have been hard for Samson’s parents to wait all those years for a child. It must also have been rewarding to have such a clear sign that God had a plan. They certainly seemed eager to be just the right kind of parents. Waiting is hard, but God always has a plan!
